Report on the province of Aleppo and its surroundings Friday 11/05/2012

Friday of ‘Victory from Allah is near’


1. Aleppo city- Al Marjeh- tens of security cars full of Assad thugs carried out a campaign of raids and arrests on homes of freedom callers, before sunrise.

2. Aleppo city- Al Firdous- Buses full of security and thugs enter the neighbourhood

3. Aleppo city- Salah Al Din- loud explosion was heard in the evening consistently timed with the funeral demonstration of martyr ‘Omar Dahrooj’.

Number of times that heavy army equipment was seen ‘tanks and armoured vehicles’

1. Rural Aleppo- Hreitaan- air vehicles belonging to the Assad army were used to monitor demonstrators, which were mocking the Assad army in their demonstration.

Demonstrations or cases that had fire opened onto:

1. Aleppo city- Salah Al Din- security opened fire onto demonstrators that came out in a demonstration after Friday prayers, in order to disperse the demonstration, which resulted in the death of one person from a gunshot to the eye.

2. Rural Aleppo- Azaaz- many people injured from the gunfire opened onto demonstrators that came out in a demonstration from Abu Bakr mosque.

3. Aleppo city- Kasr grove- security opened fire which resulted in the injury of one freedom caller.

4. Aleppo city- Al Shaar- fire opened onto demonstrators in order to disperse the demonstration.

5. Aleppo city- Salah Al Din- fire opened onto demonstrators during the evening funeral demonstration of today’s martyr ‘Omar Dahrooj’ outside his house.

6. Aleppo city- Kasr grove- security opened fire onto the freedom callers taking part in an evening demonstration.

7. Aleppo city- Saif Al Dowleh- near Al Aathamieh, security opened fire onto demonstrators.


1. Salah Al Din- ‘Omar Dahrooj’ 36 years old, martyred in front of his son when he was shot with a bullet in the eye by Assad gangs.

2. Rural Aleppo- Al Baab- ‘Wael Kadry’, conscript rank of Assistant in Deir Izzor, graduated from an Institute of Informatics, was martyred at the hands of Assad regime after they discovered his intentions of defecting.

3. Rural Aleppo- Azaaz- ‘Mohammad Otweh’ martyred as a result of gunshot injury inflicted upon him yesterday at a check point near Deir Jamal.


1. Aleppo city- Saif Al Dowleh- large campaign of arrests in the neighbourhood after an evening demonstration, during which gunfire was opened onto demonstrators.

Peaceful revolutionary activities:

1. Aleppo city- Hanano housing- sit-in outside the police station demanding the release of a mother and her daughters who were arrested as hostage in order for 4 males to hand themselves over.

2. Rural Aleppo- Maari- statement from the freedom callers ‘our freedom callers are a red line’

3. Aleppo city- Salah Al Din- independence flag graffiti painted on a wall along with many revolutionary slogans.

4. Aleppo city- Kasr grove- independence flag raised in Al Yarmouk school.

5. Aleppo city- Al Athamieh- revolutionary writings

Demonstrations in the city of Aleppo:

Freedom callers that participated in the demonstrations that the province of Aleppo saw today all came out calling for freedom, to topple the regime and to show solidarity and support of the occupied, besieged and uprising cities, especially Aleppo suburbs, as well as to persevere with the revolution until victory is gained.

1. Al Miyassar- demonstration that took part after midnight yesterday to around sunrise this morning.

2. Al Marjeh- morning demonstration

3. Salah Al Din- large demonstrations from Bilal mosque and Saad mosque, both travelled in the direction of freedom roundabout

Security open fire onto demonstrators in aim to disperse the demonstration.

Live fire resulted in the martyrdom of ‘Omar Dahrooj’, who fell instantly in front of his son.

4. Salah Al Din- independence flag raised at Salah Al Din roundabout

5. Kasr grove- demonstration after Friday prayer fired onto by security and Assad thugs

Confrontations between security and demonstrators who were defending themselves with stones.

Salah Al Din- corpse of martyr ‘Omar Dahrooj’ arrived, mass numbers of freedom callers gathered outside his house ready for his funeral, demonstrators took off and an explosion was heard near by in the neighbourhood, security forces cut-off roads, but the freedom callers continued in the funeral demonstration chanting for the martyr and to topple the regime.

Reported demonstrations with no video footage- Al Baab way, Al Zahraa, Al Firdous, Sheikh Fares, Al Kallaseh, Al Ashrafieh, New Aleppo.

Demonstrations in rural Aleppo:

Similarly to the city of Aleppo, all the demonstrations that came out chanted to topple the regime, for freedom, to execute bashar and to show solidarity with the students of Aleppo university on campus against the atrocities committed by the regime,  as well as to persevere with the revolution until victory is gained, to show support and solidarity with uprising and besieged cities and with the martyrs of this revolution.
